Open Space Panel Presses Selectmen on Wetlands Deal
Other Committee · Meeting of September 15, 2026
Douglas Open Space Committee races the clock on a Green Brook land deal. Chair Sue Perkins and members Gordon Larrabee, Kathy Richards, Dick Skinner and Becky Callagher debated a landowner's bid to pull roughly 27 to 33 acres near Green Brook out of the state's Chapter 61 program, hours before the Board of Selectmen was set to vote the same night on the town's right of first refusal. The Conservation Commission had already voted no, with member Mark Munchum abstaining.
"Has the town gained anything by buying this land?" one member asked. The committee also voted unanimously to recommend a Municipal Center information kiosk to selectmen and reviewed a fundraising letter seeking $14,000 to $15,000 for Keven property trail work, tied to Douglas voters' 2024 rejection of the Community Preservation Act.
