Douglas Master Plan Panel Approves Draft Corrections

Other Committee · Meeting of September 16, 2026

Douglas Master Plan Committee spends two-plus hours fixing formatting ahead of a targeted October 14 adoption vote. Members caught a missing town seal, mislabeled traffic data crediting Route 16 vehicle counts to Depot Street, and a stray "East Douglas" reference that should have read "Douglas downtown area." Mike Vaughan-Brown of the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission, arriving late after a Worcester-area traffic accident, urged designers to rework two photos "bleeding off the page" rather than have the committee redesign pages live. Members added the Board of Health, ADA Committee, Conservation Commission and Agricultural Commission to several implementation-matrix action items, and voted unanimously five separate times, including to extend the meeting to 7:30 p.m. and to approve all amendments to the draft, appendices and matrix.

The panel meets again September 30 at 5 p.m. to review a corrected draft.
