Douglas Youth Baseball and Softball League has launched a capital campaign to rebuild its youth baseball field at Soldier's Field, saying it has already raised $35,000 toward a $50,000 goal.
DOUGLAS --
YOUTH LEAGUES -- Douglas Youth Baseball and Softball League (DYBSL) announced a fundraising campaign it calls "Swinging for the Fences" to renovate the youth baseball field at Soldier's Field. The league says the current field "no longer meets the needs of our growing program," citing "uneven surfaces and inadequate safety features," and that a rebuilt field would provide "a safer, regulation-quality playing surface" and "expand access for more teams, age groups, and community events."
The league's stated goal is $50,000, and it says it has "already secured $35,000.00 bringing us closer to the finish line" through prior fundraising and donations. DYBSL is asking for gifts at several named levels: "$10,000 - Grand Slam," "$5,000 - Home Run," "$1000 - Triple Play," "$500 - Double Play," "$251 - Base Hit" and "$250 and under - Super Fan." Donations can be made through a link on the league's website, and the league can be reached by mail at PO Box 596, Douglas, or by email at douglasbaseballandsoftball@gmail.com.
