Douglas Oktoberfest Fills All 117 Vendor Spots Early
Other Committee · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Douglas Oktoberfest sells out all 117 vendor spots before Labor Day, the earliest in nearly 30 years. Organizers turned away a church that has received a free vendor site for 15 to 18 years after it missed this year's application deadline, offering an unstaffed "hat table" instead, which the church declined. A local farm owner twice asked for a reduced $100 vendor fee; organizers held firm, saying fees cover "goods, services, entertainment, port-a-johns, insurance, license fees, police details" with no town funding.
"We are completely full," the vendor coordinator said. The festival still needs roughly 120 volunteers for two-hour shifts, and a beer and wine license hearing is set before the Select Board at 7 p.m. the following Tuesday. Family Karate was confirmed for a 12:45 p.m. street demonstration timed ahead of the 1:30 p.m.
Wiener Dog Race finals, and the town's marching band will again close the parade after rejecting a request to move to an earlier time slot.
