Douglas Cemetery Commission Approves $50 Signage Increase, Plans Spring Conservation Review
Douglas Cemetery Commission approves small signage overrun and plans wetlands review near burial plots.
DOUGLAS -- December 5, 2025, Douglas Cemetery Commission approves small signage overrun and plans wetlands review near burial plots. The commission voted unanimously at its December 5 meeting to authorize a $50 increase to a Town Meeting-approved signage budget, bringing the total to $4,590.55, after a vendor removed pipe caps from the original bundled quote; the order must be placed before December 31 when the price lock expires. Members also discussed a pending $450 conservation consultant fee, which the town cannot waive, to assess encroaching plants and establish a wetlands setback line near Centerville Brook at Douglas Center Cemetery, a boundary question that directly affects how many plots the commission can sell. Town Administrator Matt is being consulted on whether the town will absorb the consultant cost, and former board member Kid Grace offered to help the commission file the required Notice of Intent with the Conservation Commission. With the treasurer departing for three months beginning in January, the commission voted unanimously to designate two members as authorized signers in his absence.
