DOUGLAS — The Douglas Recreation Commission voted to hold next year's Picnic at the Park on July 31, 2027, at Soldier's Field, rain or shine. Organizer Rhoda told the commission this year's event drew a strong turnout with inflatables, an ASD race car, a touch-a-truck, food vendors and craft vendors, saying "this year went awesome" with no complaints reported. Commission member Jen moved and member Hannah seconded the approval, which passed unanimously.

The commission also noted a proposed Town Hall kiosk from resident Dick Skinner "dropped the project for now," and reviewed newly painted basketball lines at the Town Hall pickleball courts. The commission separately approved minutes from its May 5, June 29 and July 22 meetings and adjourned at 6:08 p.m.
