Douglas seats its first ADA Commission, electing officers and sketching early priorities. The newly formed Americans with Disabilities Act Commission met for the first time Thursday, July 16, unanimously electing Ben as chair, Jennifer Zivkac as vice chair, and Sarah Guimond as clerk, and voting to hold regular meetings on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 4 p.m. Building Commissioner and ADA Officer Eric Bolin, serving ex-officio, told members the commission carries no independent budget and functions as an advisory body, channeling recommendations to the Select Board, relevant departments, and the Finance Committee.

Early priorities named by members include developing a community accessibility survey, reviewing the Mozinsky property on Mumford Drive for an accessible trail entrance, examining Main Street sidewalks — described as "cracked, broken, and with curbing just gone" — and flagging the Martin Street playground as out of compliance. Bolin disclosed that the town's last comprehensive facility-by-facility ADA self-assessment dates to approximately 2007 and said he will prepare a template for the commission to begin updating it at the August 6 meeting.
