DOUGLAS — The Douglas Master Plan Committee voted unanimously to approve a near-final draft of the town's master plan and send it to the Planning Board. Chair Rich Preston and members including Mike Sorker, Ross Smith, Rebecca LaValle and Meg Schlesman spent much of the October 7 meeting correcting formatting and data errors in the roughly 200-page document, from a missing Historical Commission listing in Appendix A to two mislabeled road entries in a traffic-count table. Member Dan Mascroft flagged that the draft's housing section listed "a diverse inventory of housing" as the plan's top goal even though the resident survey ranked it around "18 percent," well behind taxes and road conditions.
The committee set an October 14 informal presentation to the Planning Board and a joint meeting October 28 to finalize adoption, declining to reopen the document for additional public comment after a two-and-a-half-year process.
