DOUGLAS — December 18, 2025 — Douglas America 250 Committee sets April 1 banner deadline and advances July 4 parade plans. The committee, meeting December 18, locked in an April 1 submission deadline for its Hometown Heroes veteran banner program, with banners priced at roughly $130 to $140 each — an 18-by-36-inch format required by National Grid's 30-by-36-inch maximum fixture rule — targeting installation along approximately 130 utility poles on Route 16 and surrounding streets by Memorial Day, May 26. The July 4 parade was routed from West Street staging down Main Street to Soldiers Field via Cook Street and B Street, with a shorter Memorial Day march planned as a warmup. At least one fife and drum group from the Norwell-Norwood area is already booked for the holiday weekend. Two new members, identified only as Sheena and Randy, were voted onto the committee, with ethics training through the town clerk still required.
