Board of Selectmen · Meeting of October 6, 2026
Douglas selectmen accepted a $2.05 million MassWorks grant that clears the way for the town's $4.6 million federal water tank bid. Vice Chairman Timothy Bonin presided in Chairman Leslie Stevens's absence as the board unanimously signed letters of support and commitment for the EDA grant, due Oct. 15, which would cover 70 percent of an elevated water tank serving the town's industrial zone. One member summed up the maneuver as "turning $2 million dollars into six." The board also approved 2026-27 winter plow rates after a $17.10-per-ton jump in salt costs, heard a first reading on a written policy for paid rest after long storms, and pulled a town hall land-transfer article from the fall warrant pending survey costs.
Separately, Treasurer Cheryl and adviser Brian Jamross outlined a "prudent investor" warrant article that would let roughly $274,855 in trust funds be invested beyond the state's restrictive legal list.
