Water Commission OKs revised budget transfer
Water · Meeting of September 29, 2026
Douglas Water Commission trims budget to patch revenue shortfall. Commissioners Phil Stinchfield and Kyle Hoost joined the commission's chair in unanimously approving a revised $2,457,844 water and sewer budget during a six-minute meeting Tuesday, cutting $112,417 from accounts including insurance, training and professional services. Systems Manager Bob Sells told commissioners the changes corrected figures drafted at the commission's August 11 meeting, shifting money into electricity, heating and retiree health insurance lines.
The revision also raises the sewer charges and fees transfer from $586,500 to $748,130, with a matching $161,630 increase to retained earnings, and a parallel $161,630 increase on the water side's retained earnings fund. Commissioners directed Sells to deliver a clean copy of the figures to town finance staff the next day so the town meeting warrant article can be amended before the Select Board closes the warrant around October 6.
