Douglas Heritage Committee Finalizes Parade Logistics for Town's 300th Anniversary Celebration

DOUGLAS — June 25, 2026 — Douglas Heritage and Honor Committee finalizes parade and festival plans for the town's 300th anniversary celebration Saturday. The committee, which operates entirely on fundraising and personal funds with no municipal budget, confirmed a June 28 parade stepping off from West Street at 11 a.m. and concluding at Soldiers Field, where activities including an apple pie contest, live music, games, and food vendors are scheduled through 4 p.m. A food vendor crisis that surfaced Monday — when the committee learned only one of its original vendors had cleared Board of Health inspection — was resolved by Thursday, with six vendors confirmed including a taco truck, Lucky Dogs of Whitinsville, Juniper Farms ice cream, Sweeties Candies Bus, Bree's Sweet Treats, and Coco's Tropical Ice. The Blackstone Valley Music Student Orchestra will perform from a flatbed trailer and is expected to play the national anthem near the Soldiers Field entrance at approximately noon. The committee also recognized retiring Douglas Fire Chief John Ferno, who completed 41 years of service to the town on the day of the meeting.
