Board of Health tables officer reorganization vote
Board of Health · Meeting of September 28, 2026
Douglas Board of Health tables officer vote, citing thin membership. Chair Robert Brazeau and member Richard Skinner, the board's only active participants Monday, delayed electing a chair and vice chair after Brazeau said a prospective recruit "didn't work out," agreeing instead to revisit staffing and duties before the October 26 meeting. Members approved the August 3 minutes as revised and reviewed transfer station upgrades, including new traffic-separation lines and arrows a crew member named Adam helped install, which one member said replaced what had been "like a free-for-all." The board also previewed Oktoberfest, set for Saturday, October 3, with roughly 50 inspected food vendors, and discussed the recent hiring of transfer station worker Ray McNeil, selected from six or seven applicants.
"I think he's going to work out okay, but I keep my fingers crossed on that one," one member said. No dollar figures or formal policy votes beyond the minutes and adjournment were taken.
