Douglas ZBA Approves North Village Lighting Fixture Change, Continues Two Cases
DOUGLAS — July 8, 2026 — Douglas Zoning Board approves North Village lighting change, tables two cases in abbreviated July session. The Douglas Zoning Board of Appeals voted unanimously at its July 8 meeting to approve a revised roadway light pole specification for North Village Condominiums, accepting an Energy Light LLC model QS4ALAB fixture on a 12-foot bolted anchor-base pole in place of an originally proposed direct-embed pole, keyed to page 26 of the November 10, 2010 site plan. Neil Verbicki, representing the condominium association, told the board two foundations and four units are already under construction, with occupancy roughly six months away. A sideline setback variance for James Farrell, Case 2026-05, was continued to October 7, 2026 after Farrell signed an extension; the case has not been heard on the merits since its May 13 filing. A Chapter 40B comprehensive permit hearing for Westview LLC at 30 South West Main Street was pushed to August 5, with the applicant unwilling to proceed without his attorney and engineer and the board's peer review consultant feedback still outstanding — leaving abutters who attended the July session without an opportunity to be heard.
