Douglas Senior Center on Pace to Shatter Annual Attendance Record with Months to Spare

DOUGLAS — October 8, 2025 — Douglas Senior Center reports nearly 6,300 visits in nine months, closing in on its full prior-year total. Council on Aging Director Patrice told the board at the October 8 meeting that the center has recorded 6,236 visits since January 1 — roughly 100 short of the entire previous year's total, with three months remaining. The center also logged 2,006 van rides and prepared 1,282 in-house meals over the same period. A local business owner donated and installed a replacement double oven after learning his mother had become a regular, saving grant funds the director said will be redirected to other needs. The Sunshine Club reported a sold-out ham and beans supper, a successful Oktoberfest, and upcoming events including a December 1 gingerbread event and a January 9 New Year's party. An informational forum on a right-to-farm bylaw heading to a town vote is scheduled for October 21 at the center, running 10 to 11 a.m.
